Live & Immersive Arts

Where collaborative art meets technology

Starting Fall 2022

Available for enrollment in Fall 2022, the Live and Immersive Arts (LIA) Bachelor of Arts degree seeks to produce a new generation of artists and designers who work across all visually interactive media and live experiences. By creating digital technology, soundscapes, images, events and environments, these students create an immersive arts experience for all audiences. The degree focuses on training students to view design as a method of problem solving by working simultaneously within virtual and physical environments.

A collaboration between the School of Theatre, Film & Television and the School of Art in the College of Fine Arts, this interdisciplinary degree takes advantage of the broad range of areas of study the university offers. LIA approaches the creative process as a form of narrative. Students are introduced to the classic script-based processes of theatre and film and expand their knowledge of non-linear narratives with a focus on creating visually and sonically immersive experiences. This unique interdisciplinary approach helps grow a student’s artistic voice, interests, and concepts of fine art, while fostering a collaborative, team-orientated creative environment.
